Geraldine Pyron Gideon
Gerry, as she was known to all, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from complications of a very long and horrific battle with dementia. She was born in Limestone County, Alabama to Otis Pyron and Itasca McLemore Pyron. She was a proud graduate of West Limestone High School, class of 1955, and worked as an accountant for several companies in Athens, Alabama until she met and married Eugene Gideon in 1961. They moved to Lompoc in 1967. Gerry was an active volunteer. mother and reading tutor in her children’s schools for many years. Once the kids moved out, Gerry went back to school and studied accounting at Allan Hancock College. She worked in office administration for Allan Hancock and then as an accountant in property management for many years. Gerry was an avid reader and has read thousands of books over the years. In fact, she donated over 10,000 books to the Lompoc library.
Gerry was predeceased by her parents, one brother and one sister, Johnny Pyron and Wynell Dement, and her husband Gene (9/2019). She is survived by her son Greg (Deborah) of Lompoc, her daughter Gina, of Columbia, Maryland, her brother Morris Pyron of Elkmont, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank their wonderful caregivers for all they have done to help Gerry over the past few years, allowing him to stay in his own home until the end. A private family service and burial will take place.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Lompoc Public Library, 501 East North Street, Lompoc, CA 93436.
